News from today's new single presentation event

Today, Sexy Zone held a release event for their new single in Yoyogi National Gymnasium. They made a big announcement about their new single, which was reported at a variety of Japanese news sites. While I wasn't there at the event, I've translated the TV Asahi News report, in particular.

I just don't get it...maybe 2 years ago So and Marius had to work more on their performing skills, but lately they have been strong and solid members. So has obviously worked hard on dancing and it shows - he's one of the most skilled dancers in the group. Marius has developed a strong personality and is well loved by fans. His solo performance on Shonen Club last month was terrific. I don't see much reason to keep being a SZ fan if this is the way the group is going forward.

At least Marius and So were in the spotlight in the most recent Shonen Club, leading the junior group (I can't keep track of the group names - is it another version of Sexy Boyz or is there another name now?) It was great to see them standing out in front of a group instead of backdancing and on camera for 2 seconds in a song. But they could be doing this just as well supporting the group they already belong to, and it would be a lot better for Sexy Zone too.

One of the best things about Johnny's Entertainment was how they created stars by showing their progress from a very young age. Lately that system seems really broken. The way they're treating SZ's youngest members doesn't help one bit.

Honestly, I think that Sou has always been more talented as a performer than Shori, even from the beginning. Shori was only in Johnny's a short while longer than Sou, and Sou was always a stronger dancer than Shori. And Marius has really worked so hard to get better at performing and also at Japanese, so he definitely doesn't deserve this, either. It doesn't make sense to break up the group this way for any reason.

Marius and Sou have recently been put into Junior(?) groups called "Sexy Boyz" and "Sexy Show" with Jinguji, Genki, Matsukura, and Genta, but I don't like that they're only allowed to be featured if they're with Juniors. Marius and Sou aren't featured Juniors, they're members of a debuted unit, and they should be treated like members of Sexy Zone, not like Juniors, in my opinion. Like you said, they could be doing this just as well supporting Sexy Zone, but for some reason they're never allowed to.

I agree-- recently, Johnny's management's decisions make no sense to me. It really does feel like the system is broken.
